The Sound Studies Section recognizes the best student paper on sound studies presented at the annual conference. The Paper Award Committee will decide the (co-)winner of a $200 cash award. The previous year’s winner will be invited to serve on the committee if the person now qualifies as a senior member.

We are now accepting submissions for the Section’s annual Student Paper Award. All students who presented papers on sound studies at the 2025 SEM conference are eligible to apply. Please submit your presented paper and CV to semsoundstudies@gmail.com with the subject line “SEM Sound Studies Section Paper Award 2026” by Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
